There are some categories for which you won’t be able to apply for a Tatkal passport and you need to go through the normal route and get your passport. (Tatkal is the shortest way to get a a passport in India). Listed below are some of the categories for which you won’t able to get Tatkal passport
- Applicants who have criminal cases
- Applicants who has undergone a major name change
- Those with present address outside jurisdiction of the RPO
- Minors who parents are divorced or separated
- Applicants who came back to India at Government cost
- Applicants deported to India from a foreign country
- People of Naga origin
- People living in Jammu & Kashmir (or) People who have the origin as Jammu & Kashmir
- Applicants who are applying for Fresh passport after the old passport has been stolen (or) lost
- Applicants whose old passport has been damaged beyond recognition
- Applicants who have a change in name or sex
- Applicants who have a change in Fathers, Mothers or Spouse name
- Applicants who have change in Date of Birth (or) correction in Place of Birth
- Applicants who are applying passport for the 1st time
- Applicants who are born out of surrogacy
- Applicants born out of wedlock
- Applicants who are minors with only 1 parent
