Indian Visa on Arrival Facility for UAE Citizens

Indian Visa on Arrival Facility is available for UAE Citizens provided they satisfy from some certain rules and conditions mentioned below. UAE Citizens are only eligible for a Visa-on-Arrival if you have previously obtained an e-Visa or a regular/paper visa for India. If this is your first time visiting India, you will need to apply for an e-Visa or a regular visa in advance.

Visa-on-Arrival Application Process for UAE Citizens

These are the steps a UAE National has to take to get the Indian Visa on Arrival

  1. Fill out the Application Form: You can download the Visa on Arrival application form (Annexure I) online before your trip. It’s highly recommended to print and fill it out at home. This will save you time waiting at the airport.
  2. On-Board Option: If you forget to download the form, don’t worry! Many airlines provide the physical application form on your flight. You can fill it out while you’re in the air.
  3. Prepare Your Documents: You’ll need to present your duly filled Visa on Arrival application form along with a disembarkation card to the Visa Officer at the visa counter. Having these documents ready will make your experience at immigration much faster.

UAE Citizens not eligible for Indian Visa on Arrival

Not every UAE citizen will be eligible for Visa on Arrival and if the Citizen of UAE doesn’t meet the following conditions then they may not be eligible for Visa on Arrival

  • Pakistani Origin: If you, or either of your parents or grandparents (paternal or maternal), were born in or are a permanent resident of Pakistan, you are not eligible for a Visa-on-Arrival. In this case, you must obtain a visa from the appropriate Indian Mission or Post before your trip.
  • Diplomatic/Official Passports: The Visa-on-Arrival facility is strictly for regular passport holders. It is not available to those with diplomatic or official passports.
  • Non-Extendable and Non-Convertible: A key point to remember is that the Visa-on-Arrival is a short-term solution. It cannot be extended or converted into another type of visa.
  • First-Time Visitors: If this is your first trip to India, you must apply for an e-Visa or a regular visa before your travel date. You will not be granted a Visa-on-Arrival.
